The unshielded installation cables for telephone and information processing systems should preferably be used as voice lines for telephone extensions and intercom units for fixed installation in dry and damp operating sites within buildings, on and under plastered surfaces, as well as for fixed laying on buildings’ external walls. These installation cables are not authorised for heavy current or underground installation. They are suitable for connecting office communication systems, telephone, fax and burglar alarm systems, operating data recording devices, door intercoms and two-way intercom systems. Installation advice: when laid, these cables must be unwound from the coil or ring without any twists or kinks.

Telephone Cables
When installing in buildings or connecting cities or larger distances, certain cables and wires quickly come into play: telephone lines. When choosing them, you should pay attention to factors such as attenuation losses, data transmission speeds, fire protection, water protection, and weight. This is because each telephone line offers certain advantages and properties, and each model has its own specific areas of use.
At elmat, you can choose from a wide range of different cables and wires. Surely, there is something suitable for you among them!

EIB-BUSLEITUNG Y(St)Y With static shield

The higher test voltage and labelling make this cable ideal for the transmission of BUS signals in the field of buildings system technology. This particularly applies for the European installation bus (EIB). The EIB BUS cable has been EIBA-certified to no. 1/39/92 and fulfils the requirements for bus cables established in DIN VDE 0829 and pr EN 5009-2. EIB BUS cables YCYM can be laid on, within and under plastered surfaces, in tubes and installation ducts, in dry, damp and wet rooms and outdoors – providing they are protected against direct sunlight. They can be laid alongside and touch heavy current cables. Only one core pair (red/white) is needed for the installation bus EIB, via which both the 24 V bus current and data telegrams can be transmitted. The second core pair is used as a reserve or for special purposes.

What exactly are telephone lines?
Telephone lines are used for installation in buildings and for connecting cities or larger distances. They are characterized by low attenuation losses and high data transmission speeds. They are used as an interface to the consumer to transmit analog and digital telecommunications signals over short distances from the building handover point to the respective end devices.
Which telephone lines are available?
Here you can get an overview of the different lines and cables.
Telecommunication Cables
Telecommunication cables consist of individual wire pairs or quads inside. These are enclosed with a more or less complex protection and identification system made of papers, foils, threads, and sheaths.
Different numbers of wire pairs, different areas of application: The smallest cable contains six wire pairs and is mostly used as a house connection cable for houses with a maximum of two residential units. The largest cables, with 2,000 wire pairs, are used as feeder cables, known as local connection cables, for districts or streets and end in cable distributors, or they connect local exchange offices. Nowadays, cost-effective fiber optic cables are often installed, which, despite their significantly smaller cross-section, can transmit a much larger amount of data.
Subscriber Cables
Subscriber cables are suitable for shorter distances, such as telephone connection cables for connecting telephone stations with exchanges or linking exchanges with each other, as well as connection cables in industrial and commercial facilities.
They are also considered local connection cables and can be used for telecommunications systems in industrial and commercial facilities and for direct installation in the ground, cable ducts, and pipes.
Bus Cables
Bus cables are used in industrial communication for digital signal transmission, e.g., between sensors and their corresponding evaluation units.
Bus cables surpass standard data cables due to their high transmission speeds and data transfer rates of up to 10 Gbit. These properties are needed, for example, in parcel conveyor systems, sorting units in recycling plants, and waste glass sorting units, as they require lightning-fast transmissions, evaluations, and reactions.
