What Is a Solar Line?
Solar lines (also known as "solar pipes") are used in solar technology. They connect the solar system to the thermal storage unit, making them indispensable for the solar heating circuit. Just as solar modules can vary, solar lines also come in different types. Some cables and solar lines are particularly resistant to UV radiation, heat, and other environmental influences. Others feature extra-strong insulation, specifically designed for direct photovoltaic applications.
The Unique Feature of Solar Lines and Cables
The energy generated in the collector is transported in liquid form. This means that solar cables are less like traditional electrical cables and more like solar pipes. The most common type: stainless steel corrugated pipes.
These pipe systems are essential for ensuring that energy can be effectively used. Equally important is strong insulation for the solar line.
Why Is Good Insulation Important?
Solar pipes transport heat between the collector and storage unit of a thermal solar system. Therefore, retaining heat during transport is crucial. Excellent insulation ensures that heat is preserved meter by meter. Only properly insulated solar cables should be used with solar modules to achieve optimal results.
The Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV) specifies insulation requirements for different cables. For example, it mandates that the insulation thickness of a solar cable should range from 35 mm to 100 mm, corresponding to its inner diameter.
